How reliable are Mini Coopers and, do they make any with standard transitions?

I am thinking about buying a Mini Cooper but I don't know much about them. Are they good cars?|||Their reliability is average. Better than American cars and Mercedes. Not nearly as good as Japanese cars. About the same as Korean cars.

They are expensive to maintain since they are made by BMW and Mini is a British brand.

They can come in standard transmission if you want it like that.

About 90% of all cars made come in both automatic and manual transmissions.

Only cars like Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and Some Porsche's like the GT2 and GT3 and some specialty cars like the Audi RS4 Super Sports Sedan only come in Manual.

And Mercedes only comes in automatic.|||Dude, BMW is german

|||FYI, Mini cooper made the top 10 list of the "greenest cars". Very environmentally friendly

I don't like to expensive repair cost of european cars but the Mini is an excellent choice if money is not a huge concern for you. As far as reliability... it's hard to get a good report anymore. MSN autos does not have any reliability ratings up for this car. I like epinions.com to get real world opinions from people on cars like I'm looking at.

That link will take you to some reviews on the 2002 cooper.

P.S. There is also a new version of the cooper called the Cooper Clubman. It's bigger in case you like the Mini style but want something bigger. It's more of a wagon style though.|||very good cars. they are fairly cheap and the transmission come in both automatic and manual. mini cooper is made by BMW so they're both German and with good build quality and very reliable. just buy it!
