Should I use mini chocolate chips or chocolate icing to make an argyle design for the icing on a cake?

I have a chocolate fudge (1 layer pan) cake with whipped cream cheese icing and was wondering if I should just make the argyle pattern out of mini chocolate chips (which might take too long) or chocolate icing on top of the cream cheese? Just something simple but nice looking. Thanks!|||I think you should use chocolate chips... if you have the patience lol

For using chocolate icing instead, you might want to use a pipping bag to get the icing exactly where you want it, then smooth with an icing spatula.|||I think chocolate icing with cream cheese works better. It's faster than doing it with chocolate chips.
