What kind of boots should I wear with a black mini dress and black tights?

I have a cute, simple black mini dress that I want to wear with black tights. Unfortunately, I hardly ever wear dresses so I'm really confused as to what kind of boots go well with them (I know what kind of regular shoes would work, but it's way too cold for those! I need boots!)
