What is the difference between a spool and a mini spool?

I have a 72' Bronco with a Ford 9" in the rear and I am looking to lock the rear but can't afford a detroit or lock right which would be better spool, mini spool, or welded?|||a spool replaces the original ring gear carrier.a mini spool utilizes the original carrier, you just install the mini spool in place of the side gears and spider gears.A mini spool is cheaper than a regular spool, and welded is the cheapest.

remeber, any way you do it,it is for offroad use only.otherwise I would say splurge for the detroit locker|||A mini spool is smaller......duh......its mini!!!|||one's smaller|||size difference|||welded is the cheapest but it makes both axles turn the same number of times all the time, so you must be careful when you are turning on pavement or other surfaces where you get good traction because you may twist an axle
