I need to defrost my mini fridge in my dorm over break. I don't have any large buckets or anything to catch water. Mini fridges don't have a tray or tube to drain the water. How can I defrost the mini fridge? Thanks!|||Go bye a pan that you put under a hot water tank. Set it in it and defrost away.|||Towels. Lots and lots of towels. You should defrost your refrigerator before the frost gets more than 1/4" thick. If you let it get thicker than that the frost acts like an insulator and makes a mess when defrosting. NEVER poke or scrape the frost on the coils or you may as well throw it away and get an other. If you put a hole in the evaporator it is usually a 50/50 chance of repair if you can find someone who will take on the job.|||Try putting a rolled up towel in side the fridge, and wring it outfrequently. Use a hair dryer to defrost. Defrost regualry so less ice buids up.|||Unplug it to defrost slowly, and place two large bath towels
(or equivelent) in the bottom.
That should do it nicely.|||Big towel...hair blow dryer...butter knife. Be careful with the butter knife...don't stab instead gently pry the ice off. Before towel is totally drippy wet deposit any ice in the commode and wring the towel. When you are done "prime" it with a bag of ice you have purchased for that purpose. Next time don't let it get so icy that you need the knife. Get a frig level...they tend to build more frost if the frig is not level. Don't leave the door open any longer than necessary and don't place a bunch of warm things in all at once.|||Unplug it place it in the shower on an angle to drain out the front.|||You can use a clean cloth/towelette wiping out the water and place into a basin. In order to hasten defrosting, beam the electric fan into the open fridge. Make sure the fridge connection is unplugged.|||Put it in the shower or the bath tub.|||I wasn't smart enough to be able to know what a dorm consisted of.I got drafted If it has a bathroom in it put it in the shower, tub, kitty corner it on the flush.|||Just defrost it, then carry it into the bathroom and dump it down the sink (or our the window, ha!). That what I did when I had an ice cream defrost in mine over the summer..|||What happens if you place several very large bath towels inside %26amp; prop door open? My son had a small fridge %26amp; freezer in the dorm and I don't recall any problem re water. The only problem I recall is the freezer was never cold enough and it couldn't keep ice cream frozen.
